BEAT THE HEAT WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK
Summer in South Florida means one thing: your AC is working overtime. A few simple adjustments can make a real difference on your next electric bill:
- Set your thermostat to 78° when home and 82° when away, the sweet spot FPL recommends
- Use ceiling fans to make it feel up to 4° cooler so you can raise the thermostat without sacrificing comfort
- Close blinds and curtains on south and west facing windows during peak afternoon sun
- Run your dishwasher, washer, and dryer at night when energy costs are lower and appliances won't add heat to your home
- Check your AC filter monthly in summer, a dirty filter makes your unit work up to 15% harder
